Battle of the Bands 17 March 2007

On Saturday 17 March, a Battle of the Bands competition was held in the Church Hall. Six bands entered, playing 3 songs each, hoping to impress the judges in order to win!

However, there was a more serious reason for the evening—raising money & awareness of the plight of children in Uganda, who are being abducted for the purposes of the rebel ‘Lord’s Resistance Army’. Intense fear of the rebels means that thousands of children (referred to as ‘Invisible Children’) commute every night from their villages into the relative safety of the larger towns of Kitgum and Gulu. Scott Baxter from Abaana came along to share his experience of being in Northern Uganda, where this takes place, and to encourage us to pray, give and tell us of Abaana’s plans to help the children in this desperate situation.

Total raised on the evening was: £443.05
